Senior Director- Financial Planning and Analysis
Responsible for providing strategic value leveraging trusted data while continuously improving, change enabling, and advancing operational processes, systems, and architecture. Develop, advise and execute enterprise financial data strategy, process and architecture to ensure finance continuously improves data and its use to advance enterprise performance. Develop and collaboratively deliver strategic data-driven initiatives across the enterprise accelerating financial performance and roadmap milestones. Predict and optimize business outcomes in time to shape financial and operational performance across the enterprise
Oversee operations and optimization of general ledger, allocations, accounting translations, financial reporting, and systems controls including consolidation systems.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Ensures that adequate staff and other resources are trained, available and assigned to meet operating objectives. Periodically reviews and assesses overall performance, staffing and development needs of the group. Conducts interviews. Responsible for hiring and termination decisions. Completes performance appraisals and development plans for direct reports.
- Develops strategic data plans and initiatives across OCFO; supports finance/technology investment strategy, prioritization, and business case and financial investment decisions.
- Effective leader with demonstrated sound business judgment. Inspires the trust, confidence and respect of peers and other senior leaders. Develops talent for the future.
- Provides strategic direction and oversight for delivering all projects/programs contained in the Finance portfolio on time, within budget and meeting the strategic business requirements.
- Accountable for the performance and growth of the Finance Data Office and its financial systems, including the ledgers, the cost allocation engine, the consolidation and intercompany tools, the data change management tool, etc. Responsible for future growth/impact strategy for the team to deliver broader impacts to the OCFO and business partners.
- Assists in meeting corporate objectives and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures; May coordinate complex or highly visible events.
- Champion & influence all levels of stakeholders' commitment to new processes, methods, systems, and tools utilizing various communication channels, collaborate with business and technology.
- Oversee high-priority projects/programs which require considerable resources and a high level of functional and technology integration; interface with all areas affected by the project to ensure adherence to quality standards and review project deliverables.
- Identifies and communicates with leadership on the finance portfolio strategy, direction, optimization opportunities and required changes.

Job Description:
- The Financial Governance and Data Steward will own the preparation, certification, and publication of enterprise Flows and Assets Single Source (FASS) data. This individual will have deep knowledge of the methodology, rulesets, and associated processes to compile and deliver FASS. The role will ensure this data is reliable and high quality by embedding data quality and validation checkpoints throughout the process. Additionally, the role will lead financial systems and data modeling efforts to enhance Nuveen Finance's technology enablement which will include leading large technology projects, by setting vision and designing specifications, as well as driving continuous improvement and adoption of technology across the team.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain FASS methodology documentation, including the sourcing and combining rules for more than 20 SORs.
- Develop and maintain data quality criteria to measure quality. Build automated data validations to confirm accuracy. Monitor exceptions on an ongoing basis. Catalog issues to assess root cause and continuous evaluate and implement control enhancements.
- Lead discussions on data architecture standards and provide guidance to peers and partners in leading Nuveen and Finance data initiatives.
- Act as SME on governance practices to help data stewards' day to day activities.
- Communicate monthly FASS data delivery timing and expectations with relevant stakeholders. Manage releases of incremental FASS enhancements by cataloging new requests, assisting with prioritization, sizing effort, sequencing, and delivering.
- Formally document process flows, risks, controls, SOPs and policies. Provide documentation and training sessions for assets, flows and revenue attribution as needed for BFO and CFP&A team member
- Work with the application development team to implement data acquisition solutions.
- Manages large, complex projects or processes with limited oversight while working with other team members to ensure accurate findings and results.
- Understand and translate business requirements to technology team and work with them and CFPA teams to execute project plans.
Preferred Skills:
- 10+ years of experience in accounting, financial planning and technology functions with a proven track record of providing finance leadership and managing teams.
- Experience with systems strategy, data architecture, data governance and financial modeling practices and concepts.
- Strong communication skills and project management skills
- Financial\Asset Management domain knowledge is preferred.
