Role Overview

The Financial Controller will play a key role in overseeing all financial activities, ensuring compliance with US tax regulations, and contributing to strategic financial planning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Tax Compliance: Ensure accurate and timely preparation of all required US tax returns, including federal, state, and local filings. Stay updated on changes in US tax laws and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.


  • Strategic Financial Planning: Collaborate with executive leadership to contribute to the development and execution of the company’s strategic financial goals. Provide financial insights and analysis to support decision-making.


  • Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements and reports specifically for tax filing purposes. Provide accurate and comprehensive financial data to support tax filings and financial reporting requirements.


  • Internal Controls: Establish and maintain internal controls to ensure the accuracy of financial data for tax purposes. Implement procedures to minimise the risk of errors or discrepancies in tax-related documentation.


  • Tax Planning: Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimise the company’s tax position. Identify opportunities for tax savings and minimise tax liabilities within the bounds of tax laws and regulations.


  • Communication with Tax Authorities: Manage relationships with US tax authorities, addressing inquiries and audits as needed. Coordinate with external tax advisors or agencies to ensure compliance with tax requirements.


  • Financial Management: Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including budgeting, bookkeeping, and routine financial transactions. Ensure accurate and up-to-date financial records.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA qualification is mandatory for this role
  • 5-10 years of experience in a similar financial leadership role
  • In-depth knowledge of US tax laws and regulations
  • Strong strategic financial planning and analysis skills
  • Experience with financial reporting and internal controls
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in accounting software and financial management tools
  • Amenable to working under Australian (Melbourne) business hours from 9am to 5pm

Monthly pay of $2,000-$3,000 (USD) depending on experience
